My race year came to a screeching halt after the theft of my road bike in April. It was a devastating loss on many levels – the bike was a gift from my husband for a milestone birthday and financially, I could not afford to replace it.

Fortunately, my friend, coworker, and mentor, Diana, gave me a road bike with one stipulation – complete Iron Girl X with her as a relay. What a blessing!

I was not prepared to ride for the triathlon, so I recruited my friend, Kelly, who had just come off her Bike to the Beach Century.  I knew she would be up for the challenge to face those Howard County hills. I did the swim portion, and Diana, the run.

I thought I wouldn’t do another triathlon this year, but I was very happy to be a part of Team TriHard4Ever, surrounded by amazing women of all ages and abilities. We had an amazing race. I was so very grateful to be able to participate in this event.
