Yesterday I participated in the Sole of the City 10K. This race was not on my calendar, but due to a generous sponsorship from my brother, I was able to participate.

It’s been tough for me to get back into the swing of things. Maybe I’m burned out a little from all the training. I don’t know. What I do know is that I needed a jumpstart to this season, so I decided to do this race. It’s one of my first and favorite local events.
The night before ended badly as I discovered someone stole my road bike from my garage. It’ll be costly to replace. The bike was a 40th birthday present from my husband, so the thief also stole a sentimental gift from me.
The theft weighted on my mind race morning, but I was determined not to let it stop me from completing my event.

I hitched a ride to the event with one of my running buddies, Natalie, and her crew. The weather was beautiful.

My goal was to finish the race and have fun. That is exactly what I did. My results aren’t pretty, but I finished with a smile.
